Our piano lessons program is second to none! Whether you want to learn to play classical, rock, pop, jazz, or anything in between, our teachers will design a piano lessons program to help you reach your musical dreams. For beginner students we have several methods for teachers to choose from based on the age of the student (including piano lesson programs for adult students). As students progress they may choose to enter the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) program.
The piano is one of the best instruments for beginner music students for several reasons. The piano offers a great visual reference for learning the notes and understanding patterns and relationships between them. The pitch of each note is determined by the tuning of the piano, not the technique of the student, so even beginners can get a great sound from their instrument. Also, the student does not have to hold and balance the instrument which allows students to start piano at a younger age than other instruments. Students as young as 4 years old can begin learning to play the piano in our private lesson program (for students aged 2-4 please see our Group Programs section).
Our guitar lessons program rocks! We teach the fundamentals of music along with specific guitar techniques. We have teachers who can teach rock, blues, folk, finger-style, jazz, and classical (including RCM) so no matter what your musical ambitions are, we can help you get there. We teach both acoustic and electric guitar, steel string and nylon, plus bass guitar and upright bass. Our classrooms are equipped with amps so you only need to bring your guitar and music to your lesson. Check out our Group Programs page for information on our Rock Band and Guitar Ensemble programs as well.
Guitars come in half, three-quarter, and full sizes which allows students as young as 5 years old to begin playing guitar. Our Trade-Up Program makes it easy to trade up to a larger sized guitar as your child grows.
Do you have an aspiring drummer in your family? We can help turn that dream into reality with our outstanding drum lessons program! We will teach you the fundamentals and rudiments of drumming and help you apply them to your favourite songs, from rock to jazz to pop and world styles.
Each of our classrooms has both an acoustic and digital drum kit so the student can choose which to play. Computer technology allows interactive learning of key patterns and helps engage younger students. Students can start drum lessons at 5 years old, depending on maturity level and co-ordination. Check out our Group Programs page for information on our Rock Band program as well.

Voice lessons have grown in popularity and our voice program is exceptional! Whether you would like to sing pop, rock, jazz, opera, classical, or musical theatre, our fantastic teachers can help you reach your goals. No matter what your current singing ability, our teachers and our voice lessons can help you improve. You will learn proper vocal technique including warm-ups, breathing, and posture and apply them to your favourite songs.
Students can begin private voice lessons at age 6. At younger ages the focus is on fun and basic breathing techniques. More rigorous vocal training and technique will begin at later ages. In addition to our own recitals, we can also help students prepare for music festivals and other competitions if they are interested in additional performance opportunities. You can visit our Group Programs page for information on singing in one of our Rock Bands.
If you are a beginning flute player, or an existing player looking to improve your skills and musicianship our woodwind lessons program is a great choice. From basic technique to jazz improvisation we can help you grow as a musician. Many students play the flute in their elementary or high school band, but busy band teachers with large classes are not able to give one-on-one instruction to their students. This is where our flute lessons can provide that extra attention and a curriculum designed just for you. You will be amazed at the difference this focus will make in your playing.

The Rock Band Program helps students take their music to the next level and learn how to play music along with others. The class teaches students everything about playing in a band: from choosing songs together, rehearsing as a band, preparing for performances, and the experience of playing a “gig”. The program is open to students who are currently enrolled in voice, guitar, bass guitar, drums, or piano lessons with The Piano Studio. If you are interested in joining a Rock Band please speak with the front desk. Students are then placed into a group with others of similar age and ability based on the recommendation of their regular lesson teacher. An audition may also be required.
Playing music in a group is a great musical skill to develop. The String Ensemble program is designed to help string players learn how to play with others in a fun environment. The program director is one of our violin teachers and an experienced performer. Performing opportunities are provided for the group. The program is open to existing string students of The Piano Studio with a minimum 6 months of lesson experience. If you are interested in joining the String Ensemble please speak to the front desk and your teacher. An audition may be required.
We offer group theory classes to prepare students for RCM Theory Exams. To receive a certificate for RCM Grades 5 and up students must pass a practical exam (playing) and one or more theory exams (written). To see the theory requirements click the button below.
