Piano Lessons
Our piano lesson program is second to none!
Whether you want to learn to play classical, rock, pop, jazz, or anything in between, our teachers will design a piano lesson program to help you reach your musical dreams.
For beginner students we have several methods for teachers to choose from based on the age of the student (including piano lesson programs for adult students). As students progress they may choose to enter the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) program.
The piano is one of the best instruments for beginner music students.
The piano offers a great visual reference for learning the notes and understanding patterns and relationships between them.
The pitch of each note is determined by the tuning of the piano, not the technique of the student, so even beginners can get a great sound from their instrument.
The student does not have to hold and balance the instrument which allows students to start piano at a younger age than other instruments.
How do private lessons work?
We recommend students begin learning to play the piano in our private lesson program at age 6. For piano students aged 4-5 we recommend completing our Junior Musicians Program before proceeding into private lessons. However we recognize that some 4-5 year-olds are ready to start with private lessons and are happy to provide a free assessment to determine which program is best for your child.
Fixed, weekly schedule
We run a fixed, weekly schedule which means you will have a private music lesson once a week on the same day, at the same time, and with the same teacher each week. We offer 30 and 60 minute lessons, and typically recommend 30 minutes for beginners.
Start anytime
You can begin private music lessons any time, and we just ask for two weeks notice to withdraw from the program. Our regular schedule runs from September-June, and we have a separate summer schedule for July-August.
Instrument for practicing
Students require an instrument to practice on at home in between lessons. If you don’t have an instrument, we offer a Six Lesson Trial Package which includes lessons and a rental instrument. We offer instruments for sale or rent after the trial, or anytime.
In-person or online
Lessons can be booked for in-person or online, and can be changed from one format to the other any time.
